Hearing-aid subsidies in Denmark: the 2026 essentials
Danish hearing-aid support depends on the treatment route and your circumstances. Use the current official information as a starting point, then have your clinic or region confirm the practical steps for your case.

The published amounts for 2026
Borger.dk lists private-provider support of up to DKK 4,497 for the first ear and DKK 2,437 for the second in 2026. A referral from an ear specialist is required for subsidised hearing-aid treatment. Some types of hearing loss need a hospital audiology department instead of private treatment. These amounts and conditions concern Denmark; they are not an EU-wide entitlement.

Ask which route is available to you
Public treatment and subsidised private treatment should be discussed as distinct options. The Danish Health Authority describes public services at hospitals, regional hearing clinics and certain ear specialists working under regional agreements. Before choosing a route, ask where your assessment leads and who is responsible for the next step. A listing in a directory does not establish a clinic’s approval for subsidy-funded treatment.
Get the paperwork sequence clear
At the first conversation, ask which documents are needed, who obtains them and whether you must wait for an approval before ordering anything. Keep a short note of the answer and the person you spoke with. If several organisations are involved, identify who can confirm the final payment. This avoids relying on a general advertisement when your own arrangement has not yet been clarified.
- Do you have the necessary referral or assessment?
- Is this provider approved for the proposed treatment route?
- Who confirms the support and final personal payment?
- Must anything be approved before you accept the offer?
Replacement is not automatic on a calendar date
The usual interval for a new publicly supplied hearing aid or new subsidy is four years. Earlier replacement can be possible in special circumstances. Borger.dk advises contacting the region about replacement questions. Some pensioners may also be able to apply for additional municipal support; eligibility needs an individual check.

Bring existing information, not assumptions
If you already use hearing aids, take their model details and any information about when and where you received them. Write down what has changed: sound, comfort, reliability or your daily routine. Ask whether the immediate need is an adjustment, repair, new assessment or replacement. These are different questions, and an approaching funding date does not by itself determine which one is relevant.
Confirm the numbers before deciding
Ask for the package price before support, the support included in the calculation and the remaining payment. Keep that written quote with the approval or other relevant documents. Check the official source again if you make the decision in a later year, as annual rates can change. Audivello provides general information and clinic contact details; it does not decide eligibility or submit an application for you.
